Moving from Spa Manager to Spa Director is not about waiting until someone gives you permission. It is about being able to show that you already think beyond the treatment rooms.\n\nA Director is expected to connect guest experience, team leadership, commercial performance and the wider hotel strategy. That means understanding revenue, payroll, forecasting, productivity, retail, membership and how spa contributes to the property as a whole.\n\nLook at your current role. Are you making decisions, or only implementing them? Are you developing managers and supervisors below you? Can you explain what moved the business last quarter and what you would change next quarter? Can you influence stakeholders outside spa?\n\nThe strongest step-up candidates can point to evidence. Team size. Revenue growth. Cost control. Guest scores. Retail conversion. Recruitment improvements. Training results. Projects delivered.\n\nYou do not need the Director title to have Director-level evidence. If your experience shows the scope, start positioning yourself for the next level.
